Let's have some fun with SCIENCE. Firstly, we will need to become familiar with some scientific terms. We will then better understand the Laws of Nature and the Ways of GOD. Also, remember to get your parents to help.
KIDS, you will need your BIBLE!
Let's start with Geometry and learn about some geometrical objects and things that have geometrical shapes.
But first, let's learn some new words. We want to increase our vocabulary.
Some New Words
Geometry is the study of points, lines, angles, surfaces and solids.
A point is the smallest tiny mark on paper. A point has no size, no width or height.
A line is a straight mark on paper that does not deviate from being straight.
An angle is form by two lines that come together at a point.
A surface provides area just as a floor or a table top.
A circle is a set of all points that is the same distance from a central point.
A sphere has a similar definition as the circle, only the sphere has a surface area and an inner space!
{Think about the difference between a circle and a sphere. Talk it over with you parents.}
THING THAT ARE ROUND: a sphere, a circle, a disk or disc, a plate that is circular, a loop that is circular
| a sphere | a penciled circle | a metallic disk | a copper penny |

The planet Saturn and Saturn's ring
All these things are ROUND or CIRCULAR. But, which one of these things are SPHERICAL?
These are a few things that are SPHERICAL: a ball, the SUN, a marble, the planet Mars and the Moon. Which geometrical shape does our planet Earth have?

If all the members of the solar system are spherical in form and our
sun is a star, then what geometrical shape does all of the stars have?

|
The SUN and the Eight Planets
Can you name these planets? Which one is Earth? What happened to Pluto? Note the relative sizes of the Planets and the SUN. |
What is the geometrical shape of the SUN and the planets of the Solar System?
Now kids let us refer to the Bible for some answers.
Take a look at the book of Isaiah 40:22.
Isaiah 40:22 "It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:"
Also remember the texts of the Bible are translations from the biblical scrolls of other languages. The word circle was translated from Hebrew word "hhug"or "chuwg". It is pronounced "KHUG" and is translated "round" or "sphere". Also note that the German "die Kugel" means the sphere or ball. See also question number 6 of the TEST of KNOWLEDGE.
So, the translators of the English Bible should have translated the Bible verse to say: "It is he that sitteth upon the ball of the earth,..."

We see now that the Bible clearly refers to the Earth as a SPHERICAL BODY.
We shall later have fun with counting and the mathematics of numbers {very large and very small numbers}. This is a very important subject necessary to understand the vastness of GOD's created universe.
Now kids, we talked about things that are round. If you flipped this penny over, who's head would you find on the penny of the United States of America?
Next question kids: Who's head was on the penny of the Roman Empire back at the time of Jesus? Consult your bible.
Mark12:15 Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.
Mark12:16 And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar's.
Mark12:17And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.
